History
The laboratory of geoinformation technologies and computer graphics was opened in 2002 on the basis of the research division of the Engineering and Computer Graphics Department of Kharkov National University of Radio Electronics. The main scientific direction of the Department over the latest years has been works on automation and mechanization of drafting and graphic works. Under the direction of the senior lecturer Goldin I.D. and a group of some authors a series of affinographs-pantographs, electronic planimeter of high accuracy was designed. The device UAP-6 was exhibited at the international exhibition in Damascus (Syria) in 1980 and was awarded with a silver medal. Since 1985 at the Department a number of digitizer models exhibited at the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy have been created and awarded with silver and bronze medals. In 1988 at the Department a new scientific direction, geoinformation systems and technologies, appeared. Within the framework of this direction applied GIS for various spheres of application have been developed.
Staff
The basis of the laboratory staff is regular employees of the research division, teachers and post-graduate students of Kharkov National University of Radio Electronics. The best students of the University making a personnel reserve of the laboratory take an active participation in different projects. All employees have high qualification and experience in the field of designing and applying information systems of various purposes.
